How to turn a podcast into Shorts with AutoClip

A useful podcast short needs a complete idea and enough context. AutoClip analyzes candidate segments and renders platform-specific video, captions, covers and post copy. Review the meaning and viewing experience before publishing.

Check whether the idea stands on its own

An appealing quote is not necessarily a complete short. Prefer a clear question, an explanation or example, and a conclusion. Do not turn a rhetorical question, quotation or hypothetical into the speaker's direct claim. Keep the question when it supplies essential context, or choose another segment.

Captions are the basis for analysis

Use creator captions when available. Otherwise complete local or configured cloud transcription first. Review names, numbers, negation and speaker labels. Caption errors can affect segment selection and titles, so fixing input can prevent repeated corrections across outputs.

Choose the destination and conversation layout

Select the relevant TikTok, Reels or Shorts destination; for Chinese content, try Douyin or Xiaohongshu. Interview and podcast layouts suit conversations. Automatic framing depends on the shot, faces and image quality. Check that a vertical crop does not lose the other speaker during a change of turn.

Compare two documented input conditions

Jensen × Dwarkesh used creator captions: a 103-minute interview produced 21 candidates and 10 rendered clips in about 7.5 minutes in a historical test. TIM × Luo Yonghao had no captions: a 172-minute source used local transcription, then analysis, yielding 18 candidates and 10 rendered clips in about 29.5 minutes. Different sources and conditions make this unsuitable as a controlled speed comparison.

Review four things before publishing

The clip should make sense without the original. The title and cover should preserve the speaker's meaning. Captions, faces and important charts should remain clear on a phone. You should own or have permission to use the video, cover and copy. Finish one usable clip before publishing a batch.

Treat the kit as an editable starting point

Save the video, cover and post copy, then adjust wording for the destination. Record usable clips and manual correction time, not just generated clips. Use audience feedback to choose future segments and layouts. Generated output count is different from publishable output count.
